This week I want to express my deep appreciation to our fans for their outstanding support and strong following at the Champs Sports Bowl game in Orlando, FL.

Clemson broke attendance records for the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. Our fans purchased nearly 10,000 tickets through the Clemson Ticket Office and more tickets were purchased by Clemson supporters through other outlets.

The previous record number of tickets sold by one team for the bowl game was 8,500 by N.C. State. The result was that Tiger fans filled the lower east stands and almost half of the remaining lower bowl section of the stadium. Total attendance for the game was 31,470, which surpassed the previous record of 28,237 set in 2004.

We're very grateful for the great support exhibited by these numbers. That will help Clemson's football program in the future. As I mentioned several weeks ago, bowl officials monitor this type of information. The level of support Clemson received at the Champs Sports Bowl sends a strong, strong message to all other bowls.

We can rest assured that it will be a significant factor on Clemson's behalf some time in the years ahead. Comments by television commentators and newspaper reports were very positive about the type of support Clemson football enjoys. Comments were also supportive and complimentary of the direction of our football program.
