2004: Had his best passing game in the season opener when he threw for 288 yards and two scores in the overtime victory against Wake Forest; that was the 10th-best passing yardage game in the ACC during the season; also rushed for 15 yards in that game, therefore had 303 yards of total offense...completed an 11-yard, game-winning touchdown pass to Kyle Browning in the second overtime...threw for 275 against Georgia Tech when he completed 20 passes...completed at least 20 passes in each of the first three games of the season and four games overall for the year...completed four of five passes on the final game-winning scoring drive with a minute left, including an 18-yarder to Airese Currie on a critical third-down play, in the 10-7 win over Maryland...had the most important showing in the win at #10 Miami (FL); he quarterbacked all 77 plays; completed 21-37 passes for 258 yards against the Hurricane defense that ended the year ninth in the nation in pass defense...led the Tigers to a fourth-quarter comeback win in the Orange Bowl; Miami had been 174-2 since 1985 when leading entering the fourth quarter...led the team to five wins in the last six games, including a win over South Carolina when he completed 15-28 passes for 151 yards...sixth in the ACC in total offense per game (191.8).

2002: Second in the ACC in pass efficiency (145) in ACC regular-season games, second only to the 152 figure by ACC Player-of-the-Year Matt Schaub (Virginia); did not qualify for the final overall stats because he did not play enough games...did not play in each of the first three games, then went 4-4 for 21 yards against Ball State...missed the Florida State game, then turned heads by going 7-7 for 92 yards and a touchdown on the last possession at Virginia...got his first start at Duke on November 2 and set many records; completed 34-52 passes for 420 yards and four scores...set a Tiger record for completions (34); in fact it was seven more completions than any other Tiger in history; his 420 passing yards broke the previous record by nearly 80 yards; tied the single-game mark for scoring passes; the 420 yards were the most in the ACC in 2002 and his 414 yards of total offense was the second-highest, single-game figure in the ACC in 2002; had 414 yards of total offense, the third-highest, single-game mark in Clemson history; only a pair of 400-yard games by Woodrow Dantzler are higher; named ACC Offensive Player-of-the-Week for that performance; was 11-17 for 215 yards and three scores in the fourth quarter; that was a school record for passing yards in a quarter; led Clemson to three touchdowns in 4:05 to bring Clemson back from a 14-point deficit; it was the first time since 1980 that Clemson had overcome a two-touchdown deficit in the fourth quarter; biggest play of the game was hitting Airese Currie on fourth-and-10 from the Duke 47 for a touchdown that brought score to 24-17; handled the ball for 65 plays, also a Tiger single-game record...continued his fine performance at North Carolina, passing for 274 yards and four more scores; thus he tied the single-game touchdown pass record in each of his first two starts; had a 241 pass-efficiency mark at North Carolina, best in Clemson history (min. 20 attempts)...was 27-38 for 287 yards against South Carolina; that was the most completions and passing yards by a Tiger against the Gamecocks in history; played all 79 snaps; his biggest play, however, was an 11-yard run for the tying touchdown on a third-down play...thew just two interceptions in 166 regular-season passes...had a streak of 108 consecutive passes without an interception; that was just 14 passes short of Rodney Williams' record (122 in 1988).

2001: Red-shirted as a backup to quarterbacks Woodrow Dantzler and Willie Simmons...voted team's most improved quarterback during the spring practice of 2002...had a solid spring; he was 14-15 passing for 227 yards and four touchdowns in the March 9 scrimmage...was 20-26 for 174 yards in the Spring Game.
