Laurie Pells is entering her sixth year as an assistant coach at Clemson. During this time, the Lady Tigers have reached the NCAA Tournament each year.

Pells was a big reason Clemson reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament and had a number 11 final ranking in 2001. In 2002, Clemson advanced to the ACC Championship match and to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth consecutive season. In 2003 and 2004, the Lady Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament and finished in the top 25. During the 2005 season, the Lady Tigers partipated in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th consecutive time.

Clemson's defense has been outstanding since Pells began coaching the goalkeepers. Over the last five years, Clemson has registered 42 team shutouts and allowed just 1.23 goals per match.

Pells was an assistant coach at the College of New Jersey for three years prior to her arrival at Clemson. While there, the Lions won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2000. The College of New Jersey was semifinalist in 1999 and finalist in 1998 at the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Pells graduated from Georgian Court College (Lakewood, NJ) with a B.A. degree in elementary education and psychology in 1998. At Georgian Court College, she was a starting goalkeeper for four seasons. Pells was also a NSCAA and NAIA three-time All-America Goalkeeper. While at Georgian Court College, she led her team to the NAIA Final Four in 1994 and 1995 and the quarterfinals in 1997. In her senior season in 1997, she was selected as one of the top 16 players in the nation by being named to the Umbro Select Elite 16.

She set the NSCAA national record with 57 career shutouts as a goalkeeper. During her senior season, she was named conference player-of-the-year. Pells was also named the New Jersey Women of the Year after her sophomore season.

Pells graduated with a master's degree from the College of New Jersey in the Spring of 2001 in the School of Counseling.

She played two years in the W-League with the Delaware Genies. Pells was drafted by the Philadelphia Charge in the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) Professional League and played one season in the summer of 2001.

Pells is a Director for former US National Team Coach, Tony DiCicco with SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School. She is a member of the ODP Region I coaching staff, and serves as the Director for Clemson University Lady Tiger Soccer Camp. Additionally, she coaches in the Clemson Area Soccer Club boy's and girl's programs.

Pells served on the coaching staff with the U14 Girls U.S. National Team in the summer of 2006.

Pells was inducted into the inaugural Hillsborough (NJ) High School Athletic Hall of Fame on March 22, 2003. She also trains for sprint triathlons and has competed in five events in the past four years. Pells has her USSF B Coaching License and NSCAA Advance National Goalkeeper License.
