Final Stats

CLEMSON, SC--Rebecca Tweneboah scored in the second overtime period in leading Miami (FL) to a 1-0 win over Clemson in a women's Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Clemson, SC Wednesday night.

With the win, Miami (FL) improves to 7-8-1 overall, and 2-5 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 6-6-2 overall and 1-4-1 in league play. This marked the fourth overtime match for the Lady Tigers this season.

The scoring play started from the middle. Tweneboah played the ball to Tessa Lennala on the right flank. She sent the ball back to Tweneboah on a crossing pass and Tweneboah scored from eight yards out on a diagonal shot for her fourth goal of the season. The time of the goal was 103:55.

"This was our best performance of the year, but we walk off the field with the loss and that is hard to take," said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. "Our players did everything we ask them to do. They created 10 goal- scoring chances and they defended well tonight. This sport can be cruel in this way-you play hard and still don't get the result. Miami is better than their record. We knew coming in that this would be a tough match. I am pleased with the way we played. But just as I am happy with our performance, I am devastated we didn't get the result. Our players are executing the game plan, but we are not catching a break. We must continue to work hard and fight for everything we get."

Clemson will play at Wake Forest on Sunday, October 16, in the Lady Tigers' next action.
